HEARTFELT CREATIONS - JANUARY 25, 2012

This week for my first project for Heartfelt Creations I made a masculine Birthday card.  I seem to struggle with making masculine cards, but the new Chateau Gate Collection has some great stamps that work really well when you want to make some cards for the men in your life.

MOUNTAIN SCENE BIRTHDAY CARD

Instructions:
4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Start with a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of Kraft cardstock and score on the 4 1/4" line to create an A2 size card base.  Next cut a piece of striped paper 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" and adhere to card front.  With Walnut Stain Distress Ink stamp mountain scene from Mystic Hideaway set on Kraft cardstock and with Black Soot Distress Ink stamp "Birthday" sentiment from Inspire Me Sentiments set above mountains.  Color with Copics.  With straight edge trimmer cut out scene with sentiment.  Distress edges with paper distressor tool.  Matte on patterned paper and adhere to card front.  Thread natural twine through 3 buttons and attach with glue dots to bottom right front of card.  Wind green hemp around top of card and finish off with a button secured with a glue dot.

My second project this week is a really fun easy project.  I made flowers from the Heartfelt Creations Carnation Florals stamps from the HC Artistic Gatefold Collection and then attached them to jumbo vinyl paper clips I purchased at the store.  These work great as bookmarks or decorative paper clips!

Instructions:

Flower 1 - Stamp 5 large flowers and 1 small from Carnation Florals 1 set and 1 smallest and 2 small flowers from Carnation Florals 2 set.  Cut with Carnation Creation die and assemble, securing with brad in the center.  Flower 2 - Stamp 2 large flowers and 2 small flowers from Carnation Florals 1 set and 1 medium-large flower, 2 small and 1 smallest flower from Carnation Florals 2 set.  Cut with Carnation Creation die and assemble, securing with brad in the center.  Apply Icicle Stickles to medium-large flower.  Flower 3 - Stamp 2 large flowers, 2 medium-large flowers, 2 small flowers and 1 smallest flower from Carnation Florals 2 set.  Cut with Carnation Creation die.  Spray 1 large flower with Perfect Pearls and heat set.  Assemble flower, securing with brad in the center.  Take each flower and weave last flower's petals through jumbo paper clip and secure with hot glue.

This week I made some more cards with the Heartfelt Creations Chateau Gate Collection.  This is really a fun collection and very versatile.  This cards makes me excited for Spring even though it is snowing and blowing here today.

Instructions:
6" x 6" Card

To make card base start with a 12" x 6" piece of brown cardstock and score at 6" mark to make a 6" x 6" card.  Next cut a 6" square piece of striped paper and adhere to card front.  Then cut a 4 1/2" square piece of brown cardstock and insert brads at each corner before adhering to center of card front.  Cut two HCD 718 Decorative Chateau Gate Die pieces and remove doors.  Stamp Dainty Blooms and Birdies on Cryogen White cardstock and color with Copics.  Add Lemon Spica to candle flames, Lavender Spica to flower centers and Yellow Stickles to Cala Lilly centers.  Detail cut Dainty Blooms out and cut out Birdies scene with appropriate Spellbinders Deckled Rectangle.  On card front place window at appropriate place and trace where the opening should be.  With an X-Acto knife cut opening.  Glue windows on front and back with Dries Clear Adhesive.  Add Liquid Pearls for accents.  Attach Dainty Blooms with pop dots.  Stamp sentiment under Dainty Blooms with Pearlescent Purple Ink.  Attach Birdies scene to inside of card so that Birdies show through window.

I had fun making this next card.  When I first made the wood grain background it just reminded me of a wall that was in my Grandma's living room so I decided of course it needed portraits hanging on the wall.  I added Inkssentials Glossy Accents to the clear vases to make it look like water.

Instructions:
5" x 7" Card

Start with a 10" x 7" piece of gray cardstock and score on the 5" mark to create a 5" x 7" card base.  Next cut a 5" x 7" piece of patterned paper and adhere to card front.  Then out of Cryogen White paper cut 3 oval with the spellbinder die and stamp a vase of flowers on each from the Doorway Trimmings set.  Out of green cardstock cut 1 Beaded Oval and 2 Scalloped Ovals.  Color flowers & vases with Copics and matte to Beaded Oval or Scalloped Ovals.  Apply Glossy Accents to vases that have water and let dry thoroughly.  On white paper with Memento Ink stamp wood grain from Window Accents set several times side by side.  Spray with Espresso Color Wash, pressing with paper towel to remove excess.  Heat set.  Then spray with Coffee Shop Glimmer Mist and heat set.  Cut wood grain piece down to 6 3/4" x 4 3/4" and adhere to card front.  Make holes in top using We R Memory Keeper Sew Ribbon tool and then weave ribbon through.  Add brads to card front and then tie raffia trim around brads to make it look like ovals are hanging from brads.  Apply finished oval portraits with pop dots to card front.

Instructions:
6" x 6" Card

Start with a 12" x 6" piece of cream cardstock and score on the 6" mark to make a 6" square card. Next with Memento Ink on Cryogen White paper stamp the house scene from Scenic Vista PreCut Set and then color with Copics.  On a 6" x 6" piece of My Mind's Eye Paper with Antique Linen Distress Ink stamp the Love Flourish in the top left corner, the small Flourish in the top right corner and the medium Flourish in the bottom left corner from HCPC 3435 Feather Grass Flourish set.  Adhere paper to card front and add faux pearls to Flourishes. Add ribbon to center of card and make bow and add pearl brad to center of bow.  Cut the Decorative Chateau Gate shown with Cuttlebug, removing inner doors.  Cut out the scene to fit behind the Chateau Gate.  Add Taffy Smooch to house and then when dry add Our Craft Lounge Crafty Sparkles - Chunky Crystals.  Adhere scene to card and Chateau Gate using Dries Clear Adhesive.  With straight edge trimmer cut out "Home . . . " sentiment and distress edges with Antique Linen Distress Ink.    Take beige Bazzill paper and with the Cuttlebug, emboss it with the Cuttlebug Paper Lace II embossing folder.  Attach sentiment to beige embossed cardstock and attach to card front beneath Chateau Gate.

6" x 6" Card

Start with a 12" x 6" piece of gray cardstock and score on the 6" mark to make a 6" square card. Next with Memento Ink on Cryogen White paper stamp the scene from Doorway Trimmings, the Palace Entry and the sentiment "as you step . . . ".  Color scene and Palace Entry with Copics and detail cut out.  Attach to card front.  With a straight edge trimmer cut out the sentiment and distress edges with Distress Ink - Old Paper and Weathered Wood and attach to card front under Palace Entry.  Stamp "Congratulations" on upper right corner of card front.  Add brushed pewter Distress Stickles to round finial at top of Palace Entry door.  With Cuttlebug and using the Ivy die from HCD 718 - Decorative Chateau Gate cut Ivy in two shades of green and weave together adhering to card front as shown with 1/8" Scor-Tape.  Add clear Dew Drops as shown by the Ivy with Dries Clear Adhesive.

Instructions:
6" x 6" Card

Start with a 12" x 6" piece of gray cardstock  and score on the 6" mark to make a 6" square card.   Next with Memento Ink on Cryogen White paper stamp the Grape Border twice, the Chateau Gateway scene and the "May the obstacles . . . " sentiment.  Color the Chateau Gateway Scene and both Grape Borders with Copics and detail cut out.  Add brads for doorknobs and then adhere Gateway Scene to card front.  With straight edge trimmer cut out sentiment and matte to two coordinating purple colored Bazzill papers.  Adhere to card above Gateway Scene.  Next attach Grape Borders using 1/8" Scor-Tape cutting apart as needed to curve up along each side of the door.  Use remaining grapes as embellishments at top of card. Add Metallic Pearl Brad and Glam Rocks with I-Rock tool as embellishments as shown.

OCL CHALLENGE 98 - END OF YEAR CHALLENGE!

Using the photo above as inspiration, I made this card using the Our Craft Lounge Penguin Fun stamp set for the OCL challenge this week. It is a fun set that you can use all winter. We sure don't have snow right now -- its in the 40s and may even get up to 50 degrees this week. It sure is not a typical Indiana January, but since my 16 year old daughter just got her driver's license last week I am okay with the fact that we don't have snow!

HEARTFELT CREATIONS - JANUARY 4, 2012

It is hard to believe a new year is here already!   My wish for each of you for the New Year is health and happiness and time to do what you enjoy in the year ahead.  For me that is making cards and I sure have been having fun creating again this week for Heartfelt Creations.  This week I used two stamps with a winter theme.

WINTER SCENE CARD

Start with a 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" piece of Kraft cardstock and score at the 4 1/4" mark to create an A2 size card base.  Next cut the Echo Park patterned paper 4" x 5 1/4" and adhere to card front.  Stamp the bow from the Poinsettia Cheer Bells set and the winter scene from the Snowy Window Scene set on Cryogen White paper with Memento Ink.  Color with Copics.  Cut out winter scene with Classic Square LG Spellbinder and add Crystal glitter (on ground) and Diamond Stickles (on trees) for accents.  Detail cut colored bow and adhere both to card front.
