BIRD BATH SHADOW BOX WITH HEARTFELT CREATIONS

I am so excited to share with you Heartfelt Creations January release the Birds and Blooms Collection.  This is what HC has to say about this new release:

"Does Old Man Winter have you firmly in his grip? Chase the winter blues away with a breath of springtime! Heartfelt Creations is pleased to present the "Birds and Blooms" collection: a virtual spring garden that's lovely as a song! Shades of cherry blossom pink, robin's egg blue, and soft leafy green fill sunny garden scenes featuring bluebirds, blooming branches, picket fences, bird baths, bird houses, butterflies and frilly hydrangeas. Dozens of stunning card fronts, pre-designed layouts, borders, sentiments and artwork are the perfect remedy for mid-winter doldrums. Six hand-drawn stamp sets feature blossom laden branches, nesting birds, garden scenes and an elegant collage. Two sets of dies coordinate with papers and stamps allowing you to add realistic blossoms, branches and birds to your artwork. Take a well-deserved break from the bleak landscape of winter and escape to a colorful springtime garden where birds chirp, flowers bloom, and soft breezes lift your spirit and inspire your creativity!"

I absolutely love this new collection and to show off this new collection I created a Bird Bath Shadow Box featuring the stamps and dies from the Birds and Blooms Collection. I began by adhering a 6" x 6" chipboard piece to the bottom of the cigar box/lid with Zip Dry Glue to prevent the lid from closing and I also adhered a 6" x 6" chipboard piece to the inside of the lid (which will be your base where the bird bath sits) to add stability.  Next I applied Gesso to the entire cigar box. Then I painted the box with Walnut Brown Metallic 3D Stamp paint using a sponge brush.  It may take several coats of 3D Stamp Paint for full coverage.

Then to the inside of the box, including the back, top and sides I adhered blue design paper from the Birds & Bloom Paper Collection using Dries Clear Adhesive.  Then I applied green design paper to the inside bottom and the lid/base of the cigar box. Out of cream design paper I die cut the gate from the Ornate Gateway Die and colored it with Walnut 3D Stamp Paint.   Using Spellbinders Classic Circles die, I cut the birdhouse image from the Birds & Blooms design paper and matted it on pink Bazzill cardstock that had been die cut with Spellbinders Classic Petite Scalloped Circles Die.  I added Crystal Glitter to the image.  Then I adhered image and gate to the inside of the shadow box, leaving gate doors open. Next I applied Pink Rhinestones to the top of the ornate gate and LeCreme Pearls to the gate doors for handles. With Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Curious Iridescent Paper I stamped four topiaries from the Doorway Trimmings Set.  I colored them with Copics, fussy cut them and applied Earth Flower Soft to the dirt in the pots and then adhered them to the inside of the shadow box as shown using pop dots for the topiaries beside the gate and  Dries Clear Adhesive for the topiaries on the sides of the box.  I then applied Sage and Meadow Flower Soft around the seams of the inside of the box to resemble grass.

To create the tree limb, I stamped the limb from the Leafy Branch Set with Tuxedo Black Ink on Cryogen White Paper, colored it with Copics and die cut it with the  Leafy Branch Die.  I adhered limb to shadow box with Dries Clear Adhesive.  With Forrest Moss Ink, I stamped many leaves using the Leafy Branch Set and the Fluffy Birdies Set on green design paper and die cut them with coordinating dies from the Leafy Branch Die and the Birds and Bloom Die and added Enslada Glitter to the leaves.  Also I die cut the same leaves in plain green cardstock and adhered it to the back of the leaves for a more finished look.  I shaped the leaves using the Paper Blossoms Molding Mat and Tool Kit and added leaves to the limb using Dries Clear Adhesive.

On Cryogen White Paper with Memento Ink I stamped the bird house from the Spring Seasons Set, colored it with Copics, fussy cut it and added Crystal Glitter to the leaves.  I adhered it to side of shadow box with Dries Clear Adhesive.  On Cryogen White Paper with Memento Ink I stamped flowers from  Scenery Builder Set, colored it with Copics, fussy cut and added Flax Glitter to flower centers.  I then adhered them to other side of shadow box.

To create the bird bath I adhered the Terracotta Saucer on top of the upside down Terracotta Flower Pot with E6000 Adhesive.  I added Pink Rhinestones with Dries Clear Adhesive around the base of the bird bath.  Next I die cut blue design paper using Spellbinders Classic Circles die and adhered to the bottom of the Saucer.  To create water, I added 3-D Crystal Lacquer to Saucer and allowed it to dry overnight.  I then adhered the bird bath to the shadow box with E6000 adhesive.  On Cryogen White Paper with Memento Ink I stamped five birds from the Birds and Bloom Stamp Set and colored them with Copics and then die cut them with the Birds and Blooms Die and added Toffee Flower Soft to each bird's belly and Crystal Glitter to each bird's wing.  I added two birds to the tree limb and one bird to the ground in front of the bird bath.  For the birds to sit in and on the bird bath, I die cut the coordinating bird shapes out of plain Cryogen White Paper again.  I made a small tab and adhered it between the colored front and plain back of the bird.  I folded the tab towards the back and added a small amount of 3-D Crystal Lacquer and adhered one bird in the bird bath and the other on the side of the bird bath.  With Dries Clear Adhesive I added Bark Elements around the base of the bird bath, the base of the flowers and the base of the bird house. On green design paper I stamped leaves from the Birds and Bloom Set with Forest Moss Distress Ink and die cut with Birds and Bloom Die.  On pink design paper I stamped 14 flowers with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink with the Birds and Blooms Stamp Set and die cut with Birds and Blooms Die.  I shaped the flowers and added them to the Birds and Blooms leaves.  I added Crystal Glitter to the flowers and Prills to the flower centers with Dries Clear Adhesive.  I die cut the "Best Wishes" sentiment from the design paper using the Luggage and Tags Die.  I adhered the tag, leaves and flowers using Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive to the bird bath.  I then added a Pink Rhinestone to the tag.

Finally I added Want2Scrap Beautiful Bling Borders - Endless Waves from the front edge of the shadow box and then behind the bird bath to the gate opening to simulate a pathway.

This week I had the honor of having my Birth Bath Shadow Box on display at CHA 2015 in Anaheim, California in the Heartfelt Creations booth.
